In Chicago, except in deeper summer, the garage is sort of its own "cold room." That's where we keep the beer and most of the wine. :-)

Those Cuisinart ice cream makers, if you have the space, really are nice...you freeze the "bowl" part, which kind of has its own (probably highly chemical) rock salt equivalent, and you dump stuff in it and turn the thing on, and there's ice cream. Out of yogurt, or plain milk, or "sorbet" out of fruit juice, it's fairly endless in its possibilities. And like I say, anything that makes mom look good is a plus these days.

I'm living in dread of the day lice come to our house...with two different schools, I'm sure it'll happen eventually!
